Origin Stories, by TAWLA Collective

What defines the Tara Building is its members, they are the ones who shape the vibrant
community we see today. Whether it’s having a difficult day at work or wanting to share a
funny story, someone’s always around for a chat and a smile. The heartbeat of The Tara
Building is the community. A big part of what keeps that energy alive is the events that we
host, they are not a typical gathering, they’re little sparks that keep the spirit alive and
thriving!

The Tara building held an event hosted by TAWLA Collective, built around the theme of
origin stories. TAWLA collective is not a typical supper club, it is an experiential dining
journey. TAWLA serves Middle Eastern cuisine with creative twists, although it is not only
about the food (though the food is delicious). One of the most crucial aspects of TAWLA is
fostering connections through dialogue, which is guided by conversation cues that encourage
people to open up and share more about their diverse backgrounds, creating a sense of
community.

I was lucky enough to work with Sula, the brilliant mind behind TAWLA, from
brainstorming table setups to helping with prep. What one may not realise is the amount of
thought and heart that goes into creating such an event. Sula made sure to cultivate an
experience through every tiny detail and it is fair to say that she had succeeded. Watching a
room full of people, most of them strangers, share their roots and listen to each other, is
something that is truly inspiring.

Similar to TAWLA, the Tara building is not just about showing up for work but it’s about
showing who you are!
