We believe strongly in being an inclusive space that nurtures creative talent and supports the development of ideas, particularly those focused on driving positive change. The Tara Creative Arts Residency is one of the ways we continue to work towards this belief.

We will consider applications from creative people and projects, whether you are a recent graduate or are later in your career. Unfortunately, we will not consider applicants who are still in full-time education. The residency does not include studio space, so it is best suited to creatives who can work from a desk. Theatre-makers, filmmakers, writers, illustrators, thinkers, performers, curators, designers etc. are strongly encouraged to apply.
What’s expected from residents?
We want to give this residency to people who will truly benefit from it; to make the most of the desk space and our amazing amenities, and to integrate with our community We don’t have any rules about your creative output during your time with us, but our expectation is that you will commit to using the space regularly. If you do produce a body of work during your time at Tara, we would love to help you showcase it to our members and/or the public using our event space.
What facilities are provided?
We offer desk space, secure bike storage, lockers, a reception desk, meeting space, a rooftop garden, events, and community, alongside snacks, tea, and speciality coffee. There are plenty of lovely lunch places nearby, and the occasional free meal with our members' events. If you wish to run an event as part of your residency, we would be happy to provide our event venue and support from our team.
Is there studio space?
No, we can only offer desk space in our shared workspace. This also includes access to our many amenities, including bike storage, lockers, meeting rooms, event space, and a rooftop garden.
Do you offer arts residencies at other times of the year?
Yes, we offer 3–4 rounds of creative arts residencies per year. So if the upcoming dates don’t suit you, you’re welcome to apply for our next round. Our dates may vary slightly, so keep an eye on our socials or sign up to our newsletter to stay in the loop.
Should I bring my own supplies?
We do not supply materials, so please bring along whatever you need to get started. Your desk and our friendly team will be here for you whenever needed.
Are your facilities accessible?
The ground floor of our building is accessible. The ground floor has a large co-working space with desks, a meeting room, accessible toilets, a kitchenette, and ramps. If you have any accessibility requirements or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out so we can discuss how we can best accommodate your needs.

We ask applicants to fill out an application form. This form will ask you to tell us a bit about yourself and your work, and allow you to upload your portfolio or link to some recent projects. We will confirm receipt of your application, and a selection of candidates will be invited to interview. Applications for this round are now closed, but you can sign up to our newsletter to stay informed about future opportunities.
How many artists are awarded this residency?
We currently offer residencies to three artists at a time.
”From the moment that I received confirmation that I had won the Creative Arts Residency, I knew that it would be a very fruitful experience. I was fully supported by the staff at the Tara Building and was made to feel right at home by the Tara Community. They were always open to my ideas and available at all times should I have needed them. The space was perfect - large, bright, safe and ideally located with the best view of the Liffey, the Custom House and Liberty Hall! It was the perfect recipe to get creative. My only regret was that I couldn't stay forever!
